Waycroft Academy pupils visit the SS Great Britain

Year two pupils from Waycroft Academy braved a chilly, wintry day to set sail on the Bristol harbourside for an unforgettable visit to the SS Great Britain.

Immersing themselves in the world of the Victorians, the pupils toured the historic ship, gaining a firsthand look at life aboard the magnificent steamship when it first set sail in 1843.

The visit provided an engaging educational experience, offering pupils a glimpse into Victorian maritime history, as well as the engineering marvel that is Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s iconic vessel.

A spokesperson from Waycroft Academy said: “This has been a truly inspiring trip for our pupils.

“Exploring the SS Great Britain not only brought their Victorian history lessons to life but also sparked their curiosity and imagination about life in the past.

“We’re incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day.”
