The pupil premium grant was introduced by the government in April 2011. This grant, which is in addition to the main school funding, is considered by the government as the most effective way to address the existing inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their more affluent peers. It ensures that the funding aimed at tackling disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it the most. The pupil premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. Schools have the autonomy to decide how to spend the pupil premium, as they are best positioned to determine the additional provisions needed for individual pupils.
At Waycroft Academy, we support all our pupils by providing high-quality classroom teaching, supplemented by interventions to assist vulnerable learners as needed. The school leadership team and the Academy Council board monitor the impact of all spending and interventions, including the pupil premium.
