Waycroft pupils sharpen culinary skills

Year 4 pupils at Waycroft Academy recently enjoyed an engaging session designed to build their culinary skills.

Before getting hands-on, pupils discussed how to stay safe and healthy in the kitchen, demonstrating a clear understanding of hygiene and food preparation practices.

They then put their knowledge into action by making delicious flatbreads accompanied by a variety of tasty dips.

As part of the lesson, pupils also explored the history of flatbreads, discovering how they have been enjoyed across different cultures and time periods, including during Anglo-Saxon Britain and in Ancient Mayan civilisation.

A spokesperson for the academy said: “It was fantastic to see our pupils so enthusiastic about cooking and learning.

“Not only did they develop practical skills in the kitchen, but they also gained an appreciation for the cultural and historical significance of the foods they were preparing.

“Experiences like this help bring learning to life in a meaningful and memorable way.”
