Mobile Phone Acceptable Use Policy (Pupils and Parents
Rationale
Waycroft Academy has drawn up the following Acceptable Use Policy for mobile phones that provides pupils, parents and staff with guidelines and instructions for the appropriate use of mobile phones during school hours. It is the responsibility of pupils, who bring in mobile phones to school, to adhere to the guidelines outlined in this document. The decision to provide a mobile phone to their children should be made by parents or carers
Guidelines for Pupils and Parents
- Only pupils who are permitted to walk home alone (agreed by a parent/carer) are allowed to bring a mobile phone in to school. In the 2025-26 academic year, only pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 are permitted to walk home alone.
- Mobile phones must be handed to the class teacher as soon as they enter the classroom and collected from the teacher when they leave at the end of the school day.
- No mobile phones are to be used by any pupil whilst on the school site. If a pupil is found to have a mobile phone, it will be removed and taken to the school office, from where a parent/carer will be asked to collect it.
- Mobile phones are not permitted on any school trips or camps.
- Our academy accepts no liability for the loss or damage to mobile phones which are brought onto the school site. This includes whilst they are being stored by the class teacher, during the school day.
